I love Schoolhouse Earth. There are several shopping rooms, including a gardening room and Christmas shop. This is a place where you can find unique items including dishware, jewelry, gourmet foods, children’s gifts and seasonal items. The owner Stephen, also prepares dips, desserts and other goodies for sampling. There is also a petting zoo for “us kids” and you can feed the goats and other animals for 25 cents.
Schoolhouse Earth is located just minutes from Deep Creek Lake on Route 42. From the State Patrol Barracks at the corner of Routes 42 and 219, go North 1 mile. Schoolhouse will be on the right.
If traveling in from I-68, on Route 219 turn right on Hoyes Road and go west for 1 mile. SchoolHouse Earth will be on your left at the stop sign.
If traveling south on Route 42, as you pass Hoyes Road, Schoolhouse Earth will be on your left.

There is Chocolate and then there is CHOCOLATE! Having traveled Europe and having lived in Como Italy, I have had some wonderful Chocolate. This is a must visit ,when coming to Deep Creek Lake. Just walk in the door and you can smell the fine scent of great chocolate. They have some fun items, such as, Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Chocolate Covered Potato Chips, Sugar Free Candy, Dark Chocolate Strawberries.

If you have not seen the control room at Wisp Resort and you like technology and buttons, camera’s and data, then ask to see it when you visit the lake. It is located at the Pumphouse and really interesting. My husband Ted loves this place. As a former F-14 navigator, I can see why.

Started in 2005 by brothers Brian Arnett and Willie Lehmann, Mountain State Brewing Co. has grown to be one of the top distributing breweries in the state of West Virginia. Now these handcrafted ales can be enjoyed in the Deep Creek Lake area.
My husband and I really like this place. Having lived in Como Italy I like great pizza. The wood fired pizza is my favorite and I thnk you will agree once you have tried it, that it is really good. We also had their hummus and pita chips which we liked as well. This is a nice casual place to bring the kids, sit on the hand made saw horses and play one of their table games. This is a must visit when visiting Deep Creek Lake! Take a look at their current menu!
